Information on what happens in the Arts at St John’s Toorak and All Saints’ Kooyong, and how you can be involved in the life of these parishes!
The Music [Arts] Program at St John’s Toorak and All Saints’ Kooyong seeks to enhance the worshipping community on a number of levels. Espousing a strong and positive Christian ethos, we strive for the highest standards in all we do, reflecting the best offering we can give to God, but as part of this we seek to include as many as wish to participate, regardless of their journey thus far.
So, we have weekly groups such as the parish choir, we encourage students to perform in and before the Sunday Liturgy, and we open our doors to other parishes [to share the great material benefits which we enjoy at St John’s].
An outline of these groups follows. There are also wish lists, like a children’s choir, which await extra personnel and funding. If you are qualified in this area, please make contact.
If you have a clear, blendable voice, love the music of the Church, are able to read music to a fair level and can commit to Sundays from 9-11.30am, then we’d love to hear from you.
We offer opportunities for young musicians to perform thoroughly prepared music before or after the 10am Service.
We particularly encourage students from the local area to become more involved in the parish’s Arts Program. This is a terrific way of encouraging our young performers; of providing a platform to show their talent; and to present variety in the musical offerings we experience.
