Emmaus: the way of faith

Emmaus: the way of faith is a journey of discovery for those who want to know more about the Christian faith. No pre-existing knowledge is assumed and all questions and dialogue is welcomed. The journey will be suitable for those who are already believers and those who are not; for those interested in Christianity for any reason; for those preparing for important moments in their lives such as confirmation or the baptism of a child; and for anyone who wishes to come along and take part in a spiritual journey experienced with others at your own pace.

The Emmaus journey encompasses some of the following topics and themes:

WHAT CHRISTIANS BELIEVE

God is there and he matters

Jesus – his ministry and death

Becoming a Christian

HOW CHRISTIANS GROW

Learning to pray

Reading the Bible

Belonging to the Church

Sharing Holy Communion

 LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

Living God's way

Learning to love

Sharing the faith

Commencing 5pm Sunday 10th October

At St John’s the Emmaus: the way of faith journey begins every Sunday at 5pm in the Angel Chapel (from Sunday 10th October) with a short service in the Anglican tradition of about 20mins duration. Those who wish to then remain in the chapel for Emmaus: the way of faith. The material is presented to all as a group, with opportunity for questions and interaction with the presenter. Each evening concludes by 6pm. Participants may enter at any point. After the Emmaus journey reaches a conclusion it recommences again at the beginning.
