KINDERGARTEN
The kindergarten at St John's is not run as a Church kindergarten, but is operated on our premises, and the Church is represented on the committee responsible for its running.
OUR PHILOSOPHY:
-
Children need opportunities for total development - emotionally, socially, physically, verbally and intellectually. Play is the most significant area through which children learn. Each child needs to be accepted and encouraged, so they may develop a positive self-concept.
-
Staff provide a challenging, stimulating programme geared toward each child's individual needs, skills and interests.
-
Children develop self-discipline when limits are set and inappropriate behaviour is positively re-directed.
-
The role of the Directress is to guide each child through the stages of the growth process.
- Parents are an important and integral part of the Kindergarten.
SESSION TIMES:
4-year old group |
Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon |
Extended Hours |
Monday to Friday 12 noon to 3.45 p.m. |
3-year old group |
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1.15 p.m. to 3.45 p.m |
OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST:
-
As part of our three and four-year old programmes, we conduct excursions and also invite special visitors and performers to the Kindergarten.
-
We have a strong bond with the parish church. On a regular basis the clergy visit the four-year old group for basic religious education, as well as visits into the church at special times during the year, such as Easter.
-
Party and dress-up days are incorporated into our programme.
- The Kindergarten is run by a management committee which includes a number of parents, and there is a special parent-run fundraising committee which organises a number of social events for parents during the year.
